Could my headaches be coming from my neck or shoulders?

It has been demonstrated through research that addressing problem areas in the cervical spine (neck) region may have a positive impact upon certain types of headaches, whilst potentially helping to reduce the frequency of migraines.

What can a chiropractor do for headaches?

Chiropractors are trained to examine and identify potential areas of concern, or neck involvement with regards to headaches. Headaches that arise from the neck itself are known as "cervicogenic headaches", whilst tight muscles in the neck, shoudler and head region can result in a tension type headache.

Chiropractors are able to improve the function in the neck through a variety of hands-on techniques, alongside giving advice on exercises and stretches- and other lifestyle interventions that may be of help.

What else could be causing my migraine?

There are now a number of recognised dietary triggers for migraines, and stress is known to be a cause of headaches. Red wine, chocolate and cheese (unfortunately!) are a few examples of possible migraine triggers. Your Chiropractor will always discuss your medical history in detail in order to help find the route cause of your headaches, before detemining if any treatment is of potential benefit.
